Frequently asked questions
Is a cold plunge without a chiller worth it?
It can be if you plunge a few times a week and can buy or make ice. Daily users usually find a chiller cheaper and easier over time.
How cold can a budget chiller get?
Makers usually rate small chillers to about 37 to 45 F in mild rooms. In hot rooms or direct sun they reach their set point slowly or not at all. Check the rated room temperature.
What power does a cold plunge chiller need?
Most small chillers run on a 120V outlet, and many makers want a dedicated GFCI circuit. See our chiller power guides.
How often do I change cold plunge water?
It depends on filtration and sanitizing. Follow the maker manual; tubs with filters and ozone go longer between changes.
