Our standards
How we choose, write and verify.
A sauna, cold plunge or fire pit is a large purchase that touches your electrical panel, your permits and your yard. These are the rules we hold ourselves to, written down so customers and manufacturers can check us against them.

How we choose brands
We carry a short list on purpose. Before a brand appears in our collections, it has to clear these checks:
- A real dealer relationship. We list a brand's products only after the manufacturer has approved us as a dealer in writing. Until then a brand may be discussed in a guide, but nothing is offered for sale.
- Published documentation. The maker publishes installation manuals, electrical requirements and specifications we can read before a customer buys. We do not sell products we cannot answer basic power and clearance questions about.
- Support in the United States. A clear warranty and a manufacturer support channel that a customer can reach after delivery.
- Delivery that works for heavy goods. Freight shipping within the contiguous United States, with delivery details we can explain to a customer before they order.
- Materials we can describe honestly. Wood species, steel gauge, insulation and heater or chiller sourcing that the maker will state plainly.
How we write buying guides
- Primary sources first. Our guides are built from manufacturer installation manuals, the electrical code, and the pages of the building departments, fire departments and clean air agencies that actually set the rules. Each guide links its sources.
- Short answer up top. Every guide opens with a direct answer, then the detail and the exceptions.
- Estimates are labeled. When a number is our assumption or a range from a cost guide, the page says so. We do not present estimates as quotes.
- Dated and reviewed. Each guide shows when it was last updated. Codes, burn rules and product specs change, so we revisit guides and change the date when we do.
- No paid placement. Brands cannot pay to be mentioned, ranked or reviewed in a guide, and they do not review our guides before publication.
- Not a substitute for a licensed pro. Guides summarize published rules. We always point readers to a licensed electrician or contractor and their local building department before they buy or install.
How we verify Made in USA
The Federal Trade Commission's standard for an unqualified Made in USA claim is that the product is "all or virtually all" made in the United States: final assembly and all significant processing here, and all or virtually all components made and sourced here. Its Made in USA Labeling Rule (16 CFR Part 323) applies that standard to Made in USA seals and labels in online and mail order marketing, which is exactly where our badge appears. The FTC also warns against implying a whole product line is US-made when only some of it is (FTC guidance, July 2024).
So our rules are:
- The badge goes on a specific product, never on a whole brand by default.
- The maker must state US origin in writing. We keep a dated copy of that statement on file and quote the maker's exact words on our Made in USA page with a link to the source.
- Qualified claims such as "Assembled in USA" or "made with domestic and imported components" are shown as the maker wrote them and do not get the badge.
- We recheck each claim before a product is listed and at least once a year. If a maker changes or withdraws a claim, the badge comes off.
Reviews and ratings
We follow the FTC's Rule on the Use of Consumer Reviews and Testimonials (16 CFR Part 465), and go a little further:
- Reviews come only from real customers who bought the product. We never write, buy or copy reviews from other sites.
- We do not offer discounts, gifts or anything else in exchange for a review, positive or negative.
- We do not hide or filter out negative reviews.
- Anyone who works for Brevley & Sons who comments on a product will say so.
- We do not buy followers, likes or any other signals of social media popularity.
We are a new store, so our product pages show no star ratings yet. That is deliberate.
Pricing
- We follow each manufacturer's minimum advertised price policy, in listings, email and quotes.
- We do not invent "compare at" or "was" prices to make a price look like a discount.
- Freight, liftgate and any other delivery charges are shown before you pay.

Questions
Can a brand pay to be featured in a Brevley & Sons guide?
No. Our buying guides do not accept paid placement, sponsored rankings or affiliate fees. Brands we sell may be mentioned in guides, and when a guide names a brand we carry, that relationship is stated on the page.
How does Brevley & Sons decide a product can be called Made in USA?
Only when the maker states US origin in writing and the claim meets the FTC standard that all or virtually all of the product, including its significant parts and processing, is made in the United States. We keep a dated copy of the claim, apply it product by product, and recheck it before listing and at least once a year.
Does Brevley & Sons show customer reviews?
Only reviews from real buyers of the product. We do not write, buy or incentivize reviews, we do not pay for positive sentiment, and we do not hide negative reviews. Until verified orders have shipped, our product pages show no ratings.
How do I report an error in a guide?
Email hello@brevleyandsons.com with "Correction" in the subject and a link to the page. We check the source, fix confirmed errors and update the date on the page.
