Its 3/8 inch cooktop heats faster than the half inch plate on the 40 inch grills, and the center grate sears over the fire while the ring keeps sides warm toward the rim.

Is the cooktop CORTEN too?
No. Arteflame says the body is 10 gauge CORTEN weathering steel and the cooktop is a separate plate of hot rolled steel, seasoned like cast iron.
When should I get the 40 inch instead?
