Almost Heaven Pinnacle vs Redwood Outdoors 6 Person: which barrel sauna fits your yard?

Last updated by the Brevley & Sons editorial team

Short answer: Both are 6 foot class outdoor barrels with a 6 kW Harvia KIP heater on a 240V 30 amp circuit. The Redwood Outdoors 6 Person costs less ($5,299 vs $6,060 for the base Pinnacle), seats up to six, and uses heat-treated Canadian hemlock that Redwood says needs no stain. The Almost Heaven Pinnacle holds up to four, is cedar, lists its country of origin as USA, and carries a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects versus Redwood's 1-year limited warranty. Prices checked October 22, 2026. We compared maker data only and did not test either sauna.

How we compared these. We have not tested either sauna hands-on. Every figure comes from each maker's own product page, checked October 22, 2026. We did not use customer reviews or star ratings. Brevley & Sons does not sell either brand today. We have asked Almost Heaven about becoming a dealer; there is no agreement, and we say so here so you can weigh it. Neither company paid for this page.

Redwood lists its dimensions in feet and inches; we converted them to inches. Redwood labels its axes width, length and height and Almost Heaven uses width, depth and height, so compare footprints rather than matching axis names. Redwood's bench width is converted from 1 ft 2 in and its height from 1 ft 6.5 in.

Where each one wins

Choose the Redwood Outdoors 6 Person if

  • You want the most seats for the money. At $5,299 with a heater, stones, shingles and backrests included, it costs $761 less than the base Pinnacle and is rated for up to six people.
  • You would rather not stain. Redwood says its heat-treated hemlock needs no stain or sealer to stay structurally sound and will weather to grey; a water-based stain is optional for color.
  • You want to sit in one first. Redwood lists a Kent, Washington address and showrooms in Seattle, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City.
  • You may want more heat later. Redwood offers 8 kW, 9 kW and 10.5 kW heaters on its barrels. Bigger heaters need bigger breakers (40 or 50 amps), so check your panel first.

Choose the Almost Heaven Pinnacle if

  • Warranty length matters most. Almost Heaven backs the room with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Redwood's sauna warranty is 1 year limited. Read both sets of terms for exclusions before you buy.
  • You prefer cedar. Almost Heaven uses North American cedar and offers natural or Onyx finishes.
  • US origin is part of the decision. Almost Heaven lists "Country of Origin: USA" on the page. The Harvia heater is Finnish, so the whole package may not meet the FTC "all or virtually all" standard; ask Almost Heaven in writing if that matters to you.
  • You want options. The Pinnacle comes with a glass or half-and-half door, port or vista windows and three heater packages, from $6,060 to $8,664.

Pacific Northwest notes

  • Foundation. Almost Heaven strongly recommends concrete, pavers, decking or stone under a barrel and says solid, flat dirt or grass is acceptable if nothing else is available. Redwood lists its 6 person barrel at 900 lb dry, before people. In a wet yard we would not set either on bare soil; see our rainy-climate foundation and roofing guide.
  • Roof. Redwood ships asphalt shingles and sells a beveled roof kit. Almost Heaven sells a marine-grade canvas rain jacket ($163) for its barrels and notes it does not fit wood-burning models with chimneys. See our barrel sauna roofing guide before changing either roof.
  • Finish. Almost Heaven strongly advises staining its saunas as a water barrier. Redwood says its hemlock does not need it. Never stain the inside of either.
  • Permits and power. Both heaters need a 240V circuit and an electrical permit in Seattle, Portland and most of Washington and Oregon. Read Washington sauna permits, Oregon and Portland sauna permits and heater breaker and wire size.
  • Running cost. Same 6 kW heater, so the electricity cost per session is about the same; work it out with our sauna running cost guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, the Almost Heaven Pinnacle or the Redwood Outdoors 6 person barrel sauna?

They suit different buyers. On published specs, the Redwood Outdoors 6 Person Barrel is $5,299 with a 6 kW Harvia KIP heater, seats up to six (Redwood calls it spacious for four) and uses heat-treated Canadian hemlock. The Almost Heaven Pinnacle starts at $6,060 with a 6 kW Harvia KIP heater, holds up to four, is cedar, lists its country of origin as USA and carries a limited lifetime warranty on manufacturing defects, versus a 1-year limited warranty on the Redwood sauna. Pick Redwood for seats per dollar and a Seattle showroom; pick the Pinnacle for the longer warranty and stated US origin. We did not test either sauna.

Do both saunas need a 240V circuit?

Yes, with the standard heater. Almost Heaven lists the Pinnacle heater as 6 kW, 240V, 30 amp, hardwired, plus a separate 120V 15 amp plug-in connection for the light. Redwood Outdoors lists the 6 kW Harvia KIP at 240V on a 30 amp breaker and 40 amps for the 8 kW upgrade, and says all heaters must be installed by a certified electrician.

Is cedar or heat-treated hemlock better in the rainy Pacific Northwest?

Both makers say their wood is built for outdoor weather, and they disagree on finishing. Almost Heaven strongly advises staining its cedar barrels to create a water barrier. Redwood Outdoors says its heat-treated hemlock needs no stain or sealer for structural integrity and will weather to grey if left untreated. In either case, keep the barrel off wet ground and plan for the roof; our rainy-climate guide covers both.

Are these saunas made in the USA?

Almost Heaven lists "Country of Origin: USA" on the Pinnacle page and says its cedar is sourced from North America, while the included heater is a Harvia from Finland. Redwood Outdoors says its hemlock comes from managed forests in Canada and lists a Kent, Washington address; we found no country of origin statement for the finished sauna on its product page. We do not apply a Made in USA badge to either without written confirmation from the maker.

Can I see either sauna in person near Seattle?

Redwood Outdoors lists showrooms in Seattle, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. Almost Heaven offers a sauna locator on its site; we did not check which Washington or Oregon locations it lists.
