Power

8kW, 240V, 40-amp requirement, hardwire connect

Space

78″W x 94″D x 75 ⅜″H. Keep the clearances in the maker's manual.

Base

A level, solid base: a concrete pad, pavers, or a framed deck checked for the load.

Permits

Electrical work usually needs a permit, and some cities regulate backyard structures. Check with yours first.

Install notes

Electric sauna heaters are hardwired on a dedicated 240V circuit by a licensed electrician. Confirm panel capacity before you order, and check the heater manual for breaker and wire size, since they rise with kW.

Outdoor rooms need a level, well drained base. Most makers accept a concrete pad, compacted crushed stone or a properly framed deck, and barrels sit on cradles that must be fully supported. Plan roofing for wet or snowy climates.

Local permits vary. Many cities treat an outdoor sauna as an accessory structure and every hardwired heater as an electrical permit. Our regional guides cover Washington, Oregon and Clark County, Nevada in detail.

About this sauna

The Almost Heaven Princeton 6 Person Barrel Sauna is a barrel sauna, a shape that keeps the air volume small and lets heat roll evenly from the stove side to the bench. It seats up to six people. Assembled, it measures 78″W x 94″D x 75 ⅜″H. At the maker it is priced from $8,932 to $14,040 depending on configuration.

Heater choices span 8 kW. Each step up in heater size buys faster warm up and better recovery after the door opens, but also a larger breaker and heavier wire, so size the heater to the room rather than to the brochure.

Finish options listed by the maker include Onyx, Rustic Red Cedar.

Electric heater: 8kW, 240V, 40-amp requirement, hardwire connect
Lighting runs on a separate 110V circuit

Questions people ask before buying

What circuit does the Princeton 6 Person Barrel Sauna need?

The maker lists the heater as 8kW, 240V, 40-amp requirement, hardwire connect. Have a licensed electrician confirm your panel can carry it and size the breaker and wire from the heater manual.

How long does it take to heat up?

Traditional electric saunas usually take 30 to 60 minutes to reach full temperature, longer in cold weather or with a smaller heater. Infrared cabinets feel warm sooner because they heat you rather than the air.
