Breeo X Series 24 vs Solo Stove Yukon: which smokeless fire pit fits your yard?

Last updated by the Brevley & Sons editorial team

Short answer: The Breeo X24 and Solo Stove Yukon are nearly the same width (27.5 in vs 27 in). The X24 is the heavier, patio-anchored pit, offered in Corten or stainless, with Breeo stating it is built in Pennsylvania; Breeo says never to use it on a wood or composite deck. The Yukon is lighter (38 lb per Solo Stove's bundle page), has a removable ash pan, and Solo Stove clears it for wood decks on its Stand ($499.99 bundle). Both are wood fires, so both go dark during Northwest burn bans. We compared maker data only and did not test either pit.

Not legal or electrical advice. This guide summarizes published manuals, codes and agency pages as of the date above. Rules change and vary by jurisdiction. Confirm your plans with a licensed electrician or contractor and your local building department before you buy or install.

How we compared these. We have not tested either fire pit hands-on. Every figure comes from the maker's own product, FAQ or help pages, checked October 22, 2026. We did not use customer reviews or star ratings. Brevley & Sons does not sell either brand today. We have asked Breeo about becoming a dealer; there is no agreement, and we say so here so you can weigh it. Neither company paid for this page.

Weight note: Solo Stove's Yukon and Stand bundle page lists the Yukon at 38 lb and 17 in tall, its help center also says 38 lb, and a comparison chart on the same page shows 44 lb and 18.8 in. We used the dimension block on the bundle page. Either way, the X24 is the heavier pit by roughly 20 lb or more.

How they make less smoke

Both are double-wall pits that feed heated air to the top of the fire for a second burn. Breeo calls its version X Airflow: a raised vent in the base keeps air reaching the fire as ash builds, air rises between the walls and exits through holes around the rim, and the smoke reburns. Solo Stove calls its version Signature 360° Airflow and says it nearly eliminates smoke, while noting a little startup smoke is normal. Breeo says plainly that it cannot guarantee a smoke-free fire and that results depend "greatly on how well the fire is built." Dry, seasoned wood matters more than either logo.

Where each one wins

Choose the Breeo X24 if

  • It will live in one spot on stone, pavers, gravel or plain concrete. At 62 lb it is meant to stay put.
  • You want to cook over it. Breeo sells the Outpost Grill ($239 with rod for the X24 and X30), a stainless grate you can raise, lower and swing off the heat, and Breeo says the grill is made in the USA. See our cooking pick.
  • Origin matters to you. Breeo puts its Pennsylvania origin in writing. We would still ask for a written statement before treating any model as Made in USA under the FTC standard.
  • You like a weathered look. Corten starts blue-gray and rusts to a patina; stainless costs $200 more.

Choose the Solo Stove Yukon if

  • Your only spot is a wood deck. Solo Stove allows deck use on its Stand. Breeo does not allow the X Series on decks at all. Its deck-cleared model is the smaller Y Series.
  • You move it around or take it camping. At 38 lb by Solo Stove's bundle figure it is far easier to carry.
  • You hate shoveling ash. The removable ash pan is a real convenience over scooping.

Clearances and placement are the same for both

Brand does not change the fire code. Under the International Fire Code that Washington and Oregon cities adopt, a recreational fire generally needs 25 feet from structures, and a portable outdoor fireplace 15 feet, with local amendments; Seattle and Portland both exempt one- and two-family homes from the 15 foot portable rule. Breeo also asks for 10 feet of clearance overhead, and Solo Stove says to keep its pits away from overhangs and patio ceilings, "even the tall ones." Our fire pit distance guide walks through each rule.

Burn bans: the Northwest caveat

"Smokeless" is a marketing description, not a legal category. Both pits burn wood, so both are off limits on Puget Sound Clean Air Stage 1 and Stage 2 days, during Washington's 2026 statewide summer ban, during Portland's June to October fire pit ban, and on Multnomah County red days from October 1 through March 1. If you want fire on most nights in Seattle, Portland or Eugene, read our propane burn ban guide and compare gas tables in our best fire pits of 2026 list. Bigger and smaller siblings

  • Breeo X19 ($399 Corten): 22.13 in, 47 lb, 2+ chairs. Breeo X30 ($1,399 Corten): 34.5 in, 94 lb, 8+ chairs.
  • Solo Stove Bonfire: 19.5 in, and the Canyon: 30 in, per Solo Stove's size chart.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better, the Breeo X24 or the Solo Stove Yukon?

They suit different buyers. On published specs, the Breeo X24 is heavier (62 lb vs 38 lb on Solo Stove's Yukon and Stand page), comes in Corten or stainless steel, and Breeo states it is built in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The Yukon is lighter, has a removable ash pan, and Solo Stove clears it for wooden decks when used on its Stand. Breeo says never to use the X Series on wood or composite decks. Pick the X24 for a fixed patio fire and cooking; pick the Yukon if you need deck use or portability.

Can you put a Breeo X24 or a Solo Stove Yukon on a wood deck?

Not the Breeo X24: Breeo's X Series guidance says never to use it on wooden or composite decks or stamped concrete. Solo Stove says a wooden deck is "a no-go unless you are using our Fire Pit Stand." Breeo's Y Series is the Breeo it clears for decks. Check your HOA, local fire code and deck manufacturer too.

Are Breeo and Solo Stove fire pits made in the USA?

Breeo says its fire pits are designed and built in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, from American-sourced steel, and its X Series page says "Made in the USA." We did not find a country of origin statement on the Solo Stove pages we checked. Solo Stove lists a Grapevine, Texas address, which is a company address, not an origin claim.

Can I use either one during a Washington or Oregon burn ban?

No. Both burn wood, and "smokeless" pits are still wood fires under Washington Stage 1 and Stage 2 air quality bans, the 2026 statewide summer ban, Portland's summer ban and Multnomah County red days. If you want fire during bans, a listed propane table is the usual exemption, subject to local wording.

How big is each fire pit?

Breeo lists the X24 at 27.5 in outside, 23.5 in inside and 14.75 in tall, and rates it for 4 or more chairs. Solo Stove lists the Yukon at 27 in across and 17 in tall, with a 23 in inner diameter in its help center, and says it seats 6 to 8 people (its help center says 6 to 10).
