Worked example
A 36 inch Patriot weighs 119 pounds with an 11 inch deep bowl. That holds standard 16 inch firewood split comfortably and seats six around it. Step to 42 inches and the steel goes from 3/16 to 1/4 inch and the weight to 176 pounds, which is worth it for big groups but harder to move.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Ohio Flame Patriot and Liberty?
Mostly the base. Both are heavy natural steel bowls in 24, 30, 36, 42 and 48 inch sizes with the same bowl depths. The Patriot sits lower at the small size, 12.25 inches tall at 24 inches versus 14.5 for the Liberty, and the two differ by a few pounds at each size. Pick the look you prefer.
Are Ohio Flame fire pits made in the USA?
Ohio Flame states on its product pages that each fire pit is 100% American made and crafted by a local artisan in Ohio. We link that statement as proof on each product page. We show Made in USA labels only when the maker says so in writing.
What size Ohio Flame fire pit should I get?
For four to six people, 30 or 36 inches is the usual choice. The 24 inch suits two or three people and small patios. The 42 and 48 inch sizes use thicker 1/4 inch steel, weigh 176 to 255 pounds and are best for large groups and big logs.
Do Ohio Flame fire pits rust?
Yes, by design. Ohio Flame uses natural steel that develops an iron oxide patina. The surface turns rust brown and can stain pavers or concrete underneath, so place it where staining is acceptable or on a heat-safe pad.
What warranty does Ohio Flame offer?
Ohio Flame lists a lifetime warranty on the Patriot and Liberty product pages when we checked on Oct 23, 2026. Read the current terms on the maker site for what the warranty covers.
Can I put an Ohio Flame fire pit on a deck?
We would not put any open wood-burning bowl directly on a wood or composite deck. Embers and radiant heat can damage decking. Use it on stone, pavers or gravel, and check your deck maker's guidance. See our composite deck fire pit guide.
